This Is Our Story

Terminal Velocity Kennels is run by me, Allysa, and my husband Nathan. Years ago we fell in love with an young pit mix that we picked out at our local shelter. We named her Tesla, she was only about 8 months old. We were so thrilled to have a dog that was our own but she soon developed behavioral issues, such as leash reactivity and various fear based behaviors. We put in a lot of time and money into getting her help through different training programs and trainers. After our experience with Tesla we looked to get our next dog from an experienced and quality breeder. After seeing how selective breeding and a quality start impacted a puppies life it inspired us to create exactly what we wanted in a dog. Tesla is still around in our pack and is a happy healthy old auntie who helps to raise our puppies. You will normally see her hanging out with her best friend Radar.

We are located near Richmond, Virginia on a beautiful 10 acre property. We have lots of space for the dogs to hang out and enjoy the great outdoors. Our property has a good amount of clear day to day space for the dogs to run about. We have slowly been working on clearing out some hiking trails in the back of the property to provide the much needed activity and enrichment for the crew. Our dogs currently live in our home with their own rooms that we have specially renovated for them. They all get lots of free time and you will find them most days lounging around on our couch if they are not running around our yard chasing our chickens. 

My background is in biology which is why the genetics and health aspect are an important part of our program. I’ve always had a love for animals but particularly dogs. Growing up I had multiple dogs in my family. Some we rescued and some we got from breeders. They all have a special place in my heart. Here at TVK we are constantly learning and improving our experience and knowledge to create better lives for all our dogs. We strive to provide the best start for our current and future puppies so that our families can enjoy well tempered dogs for a long time to come.
